Our Chariot |
What: We're driving across India in a Bajaj auto-rickshaw, a vehicle powered by a 2 stroke, 145cc single cylinder engine that packs a whopping 7hp. We expect to be confronted by the typical (and sometimes ridiculous) things the subcontinent throws at travelers: traffic, monsoons, potholes, elephants, red tape, questionable directions, and more. Where: We will depart from Shillong (situated in the north east of India) on August 5 and we must reach Kochi (on the south west coast) by August 21. Why: Well, there are many good reasons and most do not make sense to any of our friends or family, except for raising money for a charity. The organization that runs the rally has set a fundraising target of £1000 (≈ $1700) for each team, which we would really like to beat! We have decided to support Pragati ("Progress"), an NGO in Gurgaon, India, that focuses its efforts on educating underprivileged children and has been active since 2002. Please donate! |
Who: Pushkar and Raghu met during their freshman year at Purdue University in an introductory psychology class. After graduation, Raghu (the intellectual) went to Cornell University to pursue his Phd. Pushkar (the pragmatist) went to work in industry.
